I was saddened to hear the news of Kathy Dettman resigning. After discussing this with fellow delegates, several of them urged me to step up. After prayer, careful deliberation, and full support from my family and friends, I made the decision to seek the endorsement for Republican Minnesota House Seat 43B.Cope will run against Brian Grogan for the Republican endorsement in House District 43B, in the special nominating convention on May 12, which was called due to the endorsed candidate Dettman's withdrawal from the race.
Cope said in the e-mail that she owns a small business that "provides business plan development, marketing/administrative services," is a licensed Realtor, and has been active in various Republican Party groups that favor "restoring free-market principles, lower taxes, voter integrity, state budget issues, and reduced legislation/taxes for small business."
She and her husband are Air Force veterans, and have two sons. She is active in veterans groups, including the VFW. Cope plans to conduct meet-and-greet events with delegates prior to the May 12 convention.
[Disclosure: I am an acquaintance of Cope though conservative political activities with the Senate District 43 Republicans. I am also a past and current campaign volunteer for Brian Grogan.]
